Introduction

At Soma Studios, we are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly. This policy explains how your information is collected, used, and protected when using our AI virtual try-on service.

Information We Collect

When using our service, you may upload two photos of yourself to see AI-generated images of how clothing items would look on you. These photos are never stored on our servers. Instead, they are sent directly to Google Gemini for processing. Once the AI generates the try-on images, your uploaded photos are immediately deleted. At no point are your photos used for any other purpose, including AI training or analytics.

Third-Party Processing

By using our service, you acknowledge and agree that your photos are processed by Google Gemini. This processing may occur outside of Canada, including in the United States. By submitting your photos, you also agree to Google Gemini's terms of service in addition to this Privacy Policy.

How Google Uses Your Photos

Soma Studios uses Google Gemini's paid API to generate your try-on images. Under Google's terms for paid API customers, your uploaded photos and the AI-generated images are not used to train Google's models, are not stored in Google's databases beyond what is needed to complete your request, and are not used to improve Google's products or services.

Security

All photos are transmitted securely using encrypted connections. Soma Studios does not retain your photos on its servers, nor share them with any third party other than Google Gemini for the sole purpose of generating your try-on images.

Browser Storage

To make it easier to try on multiple items during a single shopping session, our try-on tool may save a downscaled copy of the two photos you upload in your browser's local storage. This copy stays on your own device — it is never sent to Soma Studios, Google Gemini, or any other server. It is isolated to each merchant's website, meaning a copy saved on one store cannot be accessed by any other site or by Soma Studios itself.

The saved copy is automatically removed eight hours after your last try-on activity on that store. You can remove it at any time by clicking the "Clear" button in the try-on window, or by clearing your browser's site data. If your browser is in private/incognito mode, or if local storage is disabled, no copy is saved.

User Consent

By using our AI try-on feature, you confirm that the photos uploaded are of yourself and that you have the right to provide them for this purpose. You also consent to the processing of your photos in accordance with this Privacy Policy and Google Gemini's terms.

Data Retention

Soma Studios does not retain your photos on its servers, so no request is needed for server-side deletion. The downscaled copy that your browser saves for convenience (described in "Browser Storage" above) is removed automatically after eight hours of inactivity, when you click "Clear" in the try-on window, or when you clear your browser's site data. Any generated try-on images saved on your device can be deleted manually at your discretion.

Third-Party and Celebrity Images

Users may only upload photos of themselves. Uploading images of anyone else, including friends, models, or celebrities, is strictly prohibited. Doing so is considered an offense, and you become fully liable for any legal consequences, including violations of personality rights, publicity rights, privacy laws, or other applicable regulations. Soma Studios and Google Gemini are not responsible for any claims or damages resulting from the upload of images of individuals other than yourself.
